General Public - G Job Duties Position will provide day-to-day oversight of contractors performing maintenance activities for the Appomattox Residency (Amherst, Appomattox, Campbell and Nelson Counties), as well as provide assistance in administering rural rustic and other no-plan construction projects.
Will manage field maintenance service contracts, interpret contract provisions and provide technical guidance to contractors and field staff.
Will assist in project management and preparation of the Secondary Six-Year Plan (SSYP).

Minimum Qualifications Experience in contract development, administration and management.
Knowledge of roadway maintenance and construction operations, equipment and techniques.
Knowledge of federal, state and transportation rules, regulations and policies.
Knowledge of procurement practices.
Ability to develop contract specifications, scopes of work and engineering estimates.
Ability to develop, read, interpret and apply maintenance contracts, plans and policies.
Experience gathering data and preparing reports.
Ability to oversee contractors and crew operations.
Skill in the use of computers and software applications.
Additional Considerations Experience in contract advertisement and bidding procedures.
Experience developing transportation maintenance/construction contracts and monitoring contractor performance.
Knowledge of state permit process related to roadway construction and maintenance activities.
