Education Technician

Duties Presents curriculum-based education programs in accordance with NPS policy to support park mission, purpose, and significance.
Assists in research and development of curriculum-based support materials and activities, such as printed education materials, teacher workshops and orientation, digital outreach, and practices contemporary education methods and techniques in support of these activities.
Provides appropriate curriculum-based educational components to the program and assists with student recruitment, on-site training, and student activities.
Provides interpretive services within the framework of the park's education and visitor services offerings, including but not limited to:
staffing the park visitor center, historic buildings, and conducting thematic guided interpretive tours, and other tasks as assigned.
Coordinates family and child-based programming within the park through on-site programs, virtual outreach, and off-site programming.

Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.

Pathways participant agreement is required.
You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required.
You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record.
You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.
You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards.
A uniform allowance will be provided.
You may be required to work overtime, weekends and holidays.
The entire period served under the Intern Program counts as a trial period.
You may be required to travel overnight away from home.
You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old due to the hazardous nature of the work (driving a motor vehicle, etc.
).
Recent Graduate Program Requirements:
Students MUST submit transcripts with conferred or degree earned date (unofficial transcripts are acceptable).
If selected, official transcripts will be required.
An Individual Development Plan (IDP) will be completed within 45 days of appointment to track the Recent Graduates' career planning, professional development, and training activities.
Selectee will be required to sign Recent Graduates Participant Agreement.
Within the first year of employment, the incumbent will be provided a minimum of 40 formal hours of training.
The incumbent will be assigned a mentor within 90 days of appointment.

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience.
To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.

If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount qualified specialized experience.
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors).
This experience includes presenting curricula-based education programs; the research and developmental of curricula-based support materials and activities; performing administrative and development of curricula-based support materials and activities.
You must include hours per week worked.
-OR-EDUCATION:
Successful completion of at least four years of education above the high school level from an accredited college or university in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite.
One year is general defined as 30 semester hours or 45-quarter hours.
